Freon leaks happen with AC units. And unfortunately, any time there’s a leak it means that gas is rising up into the atmosphere. Due to the way chemistry works, every molecule of Freon entering the atmosphere can destroy 2 molecules of oxygen.
That’s significant and it can add up fast if households aren’t careful.
This is a big reason we recommend having an experienced technician handle aging HVAC systems. We have the tools and know-how to carefully contain the unit’s Freon, preventing unnecessary leaks that aren’t good for any of us.
